Julian, CA
How to get there, and what to do when you arrive. It might be a small town, but there's lots to do!

Which route is best for you?

1

Coming from L.A.

There are two routes that will both be a sight to see! Take the 5 along the coast to take in the oceanic beauty. Take mountainous route, inland,  to get "stop the car" views along the way. We love to take the mountainous route because it is more direct and avoids freeway traffic. Both routes (depending on traffic) will take between 2.5-3.5 hours.

2

Fly into Los Angeles

If you are looking to see L.A. before the big day, fly into LAX a few days before the wedding to experience it all! You can enjoy the beautiful scenery as you drive along the coast to Julian. If you stay in L.A., Andy and I will send you some of our favorite spots to eat at!

3

Fly into San Diego

If you are looking for a more direct route to Julian, be sure to fly directly into San Diego Airport. San Diego is the closest large city and will provide the most options for getting to Julian. From the airport, you will have a beautiful one hour drive into the mountains.

Andy and Marissa's Travel Tips

Rent A Car

We HIGHLY recommend renting a car. There are no taxis or ride-share services offered in Julian. The town itself is quaint and walkable, but any activities (of which there are many) you'd like to take advantage of will all be short drives from Main St. We completely understand that renting a car can be expensive; still, it is the best way to enjoy your trip to this beautiful mountain town.

A couple of good car service providers that we have already spoken to are listed below:

Shuttle Services

If you do not want to rent a car, you can book a shuttle service from the San Diego area up to Julian. However, we do not recommend doing this unless you stay at the Gold Rush, Julian Lodge, or Orchard Hill hotels. There are NO taxis or ride shares in Julian, so if you stay at an Airbnb outside of town, you will need transportation to and from the wedding (and any other wonderful activities you choose to do while visiting).

If using a shuttle or car service to get to Julian is the right move for you, please feel free to contact us so we can help connect anyone planning to go this route. Car service to Julian from the SD airport for a family of four will cost between $320 -700, depending on which service you use. Larger groups would potentially be cheaper per person, and we are happy to connect anyone who feels like this is the best option for them.
